AVI vs GIF

I wanted to know, What are some things that Gif and AVI file types share as a whole? What do they have that are different from one another?

Which file type might be easier to view on websites? Why?

Which file type might be easier to open without a website?

Any other place I go to on information on this always comes up short. If someone could answer these two questions, Id love it.

Strange question, but I'll bite, as I'm curious where this is going.

One is an image file and one is an older outdated multimedia container. They are used for very different applications.

Gif. Because its an image file.

Which file type might be easier to open without a website?

Neither.
