Avi files don't show up!

Hi, I have some animations (.avi files - no sound only video) I want to put
them together into a movie. I can import the avi files into Windows MM and
can play them in the preview window. However, when I 'drag and drop' the avi
files from the collections folder to the timeline and try to play the
timeline in the preview window, I only see a black screen in the preview
window. What's going on?

I have noticed if the avi file contains sounds and I insert that into the
timeline it plays well. But if there isn't any sound in the avi file it
doesn't work.

What sort of avi file is it? Only dv-avi from the list of 100's of avi's
will work without problem in MM.

You're right... I was using avi with Apple Photo - jpeg compression. I am now
using DV compression and all works well. Thanks for the weblink.
