I have an avi. file in my movies folder which I can not delete. The error
box appears and disappears very quickly so I can't read the reason for that.
Any ideas please!!!
Thanks

Hi George,

Run this edit, then try again:

Remove AVI Search - File in use Error Message (Line 74)
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

If that doesn't help:

Close all open apps. Open a command prompt (Start/Run/CMD) and navigate to
the directory with the offending file(s). Then open the Task Manager and
click on the Processes tab, select "explorer.exe" under the Process Tab.
Click "End Process".

In the opened Command Prompt, DEL the offending files (DEL *.avi) Once done,
go back to the task manager and click on File/New Task (Run). In the dialog,
type explorer.exe and click OK.

To add my two cents those relativement elaborate solution, just boot
from a Dos diskette and delete the offending file from Dos. Obviously,
if you are using NTFS, you are out of luck with this approach. One more
reason I do not use NTFS.
