avi file only runs properly from Movie Maker's Storyboard.

Hi,

In the past I have made several avi files by importing video from my
miniDV
camcorder over a Firewire connection using Movie Maker.

If I now import one of these avi files into Movie Maker it's displayed
in the Contents
pane as a thumbnail. When I run the avi file from the Contents pane
the video looks
horrible with poor detail and with the colors very over saturated, for
example, peoples
faces are bright red.

If I drag and drop the clip onto the Storyboard and run the video from
there, it's
fine. If I run the same avi file using Windows Media Player, Apple
Quicktime or
Winamp I get the same horrible results. There are no error messages.
The only way
any of these files will run properly is from the Storyboard of Movie
Maker.

What is going on?

Briefly, I had the opportunity to run one of my avi files on another
computer using
Media Player and also Quicktime and it was perfect. It seems to be my
computer but I
have no idea what the problem might be.

Any advice or ideas you might have, would be very welcome.

Many thanks!

I have the same problem with my movie. I thought it might be the transition
from high res to 640x480.

I tried the link but received the following result: "The Knowledge Base (KB)
Article You Requested Is Currently Not Available"

Hi John,

The short answer is, yes, it was a video driver problem and
uninstalling the old nvidia graphics driver and installing their
latest version, solved the problem.

Many thanks!

Stephen
