AVI file does not play in Microsoft Office XP - PowerPoint

Dear,

I downloaded an AVI file from the WEB. It play's without
any problem in the Windows Media Player within Windows XP.
If however I try to insert it in PowerPoint (Office XP)
then I get the following error: "Cannot disply this type
of sound or movie."

I also tried to insert it as an object in PowerPoint, but
this didn't work either.

Can someone explain what is wrong ? Perhaps a codec
missing ?
