avi file auto rewind in 2003

in version 2003:
Simple set up, several slides, an avi file per slide:
the avi files continue to return to the start frame even though under 'movie
options' / 'rewnid movie when done playing' is unchecked.

suggestions?

Insert / movies and sounds / movie from file

In trying to figure this out (it works fine in 2002, but in 2003 it does
not) i am wondering if it has somethign to do with windows media player and
the fact that w.m.p. also returns a movie to the beginning frame (although
does not justify the variation between 2002 and 2003).
