AVG

Hi There,
I have just finished the upgrade from XP home to Vista Premium home and of
course running into some bugs. AVG did not transfer over, which i understand
may be due to some compatability issues but when i try to uninstall, it goes
through the entire process, tells me its uninstalled and then it not only
remains on the list of programs but also fully functions. Can anyone help
here?
 
It runs properly in my Vista Home Basic (AVG7.5)

Maybe try reinstalling version 7.5 over the existing installation using
the "Repair" option?
 
Try doing a new install of AVG 7.5. It should remove (or simply replace)
the old version. You can do it manually by using a program like RegSupreme,
removing all references to Grisoft and AVG from the registry, manually
deleting the files from the Programs folder and then manually removing the
reference to AVG from the Remove Programs list by using the NT version of
TweakUI (available free from Microsoft).

"Should" is the key word. Your suggestion is what Grisoft recommends. It
did't work for me. I resorted to manually editing the registry ridding it
of every mention of AVG (dozens of entries, of course). Never could get AVG
to work. I ended up installing Clamwin and my computer is happy.

AVG installed and ran fine on my other computer. I've installed it on
dozens of other Vista systems. For whatever reason, it just won't install
on my office computer. Go figger.

I got AVG running now, but had similar problems when I first installed
Vista. No idea why. Just uninstalled, then scrubbed the Registry
manually looking for any AVG entries, then it worked. Go figure.
