I have been using AVG for some time but just recently AVG does not place
those lovely little words at the bottom of the email. I have asked the
program to certify the incoming emails and that does not work.
The only thing I can point a finger to is that I unfortunately upgraded Zone
Alarm without realising it now had its own antivirus system. I have switched
it off.
I have uninstalled and installed AVG again, it still does not attach the
words.
Can any of you experts point me in the right direction? TIA.

Lovely? You mean that phoney "certified virus free" nonsense? I think
it's ugly. No av can certify anything to be virus free. It's spam and
nothing else. It's annoying to have to look at it.

Agreed. Also it can be dangerous as if you e-mail a newsgroup, such as
this one, and you include the virus definition version you are using
,and it is out of date, you are telling everyone that they can send
you X, Y or Z virus and probably infect you as you are not running
updated virus defs.

If you REALLY want it there badly I suggest you uninstall and
reinstall the application. If I can't fix something quickly this is
what I normally do with such a small application.

/AOL/ that. I disliked it so much, I parodied it.

If you want to lie about being 'virus free' (you can't prove a negative
like that .. all you can honestly say is that the scanner didn't find
anything it knew about), just stick it in your .sig file .. that saves
you even having to run the scanner. 8>.
