Angel thoughts \(The real one\)

We used to be able to delete previous updates, in this new free version I
cannot locate the updates to delete, any help gratefully accepted. Some of
us have small hard drives and no matter how small the updates are, over time
they all grow big. ?
Thanks
Angel

In Win 98SE AVG updates are in:
C:\Windows\All Users\Application Data\Grisoft\Avg7Data\upd7bin

The path may be different if you have another OS. Another way to find
the directory would be to do a Find -> Files and Folders search on
"*.bin" (which may turn up a lot of non-AVG .bin files), or search on
the full name of the latest AVG update file.

Are the updates, incrementals? In which case it wouldn't be good to
delete earlier files?

With AVG6 my understanding was that one could delete all but the most
recent ".bin" file, which AVG needed to determine which update to
retrieve. That worked with AVG6. Following the same practice with
AVG7, AVG doesn't complain and updates properly.

I don't know if AVG7 actually uses the latest ".bin" file, or some
other file in the update or another folder to determine update status.
Perhaps a Google search or search on the AVG forums would yield an
answer, unless someone knows?

Anyway, deleting all but the most recent update works fine.

That worked, had over 13 mbs of upds, thank you xxxxxx
