AVG update problems

Updating from program will not work and it says go on line...I just thought
they were busy....

Open the file "Url.ini" and change it to:

[SERVER_NAME]
1=free.grisoft.cz
2=ftp.grisoft.com
3=www.grisoft.com

[SERVER_URL]

2=ftp.grisoft.com/pub/softw/60/fe/

And you'll have some more servers to download updates from.

Done that. Mine keeps saying it can't get an internet connection.
I'm on a cable modem and can connect to any place else on the net.
It doesn't even try. As soon as I click on "update now", the
warning box pops up right away on all 3 servers saying it can't connect
to the net. Checked my firewall, and it's set to allow AVG updates.
Only started doing this recently.
 
I found this statement in the AVG 6 FAQ section.

Problem with download of AVG Anti-Virus FREE Edition
If you have a bad connection to our website (mostly connection at slow
speed) the communication between you (your browser) and the WEB script is
not completed in the designed period of time - it is called "timeout". The
result if timeout may be - the script's message remains on the screen and
nothing else happens - no page is displayed.

This bug is almost impossible to correct for us, because is not a bug in the
fact. Its source is bad connection. We can advise to wait some time and then
repeat the download process again. The connection may become better and the
problem disappear automatically."

I have been having the same problems downloading the updates and after I
readthis decided to try downloading later. At 11:30PM I tried again and it
worked.

Exactly in the same situation
 
I just went to the US site at www.grisoft.com and attempted to download
the update file ( I have not been able to download updates for two days )
and see that the link on the site is pointed toward "free.grisoft.cz".
I attempted changing the front of the link to www.grisoft.com and it
redirects to free.grisoft.cz - I also went to the updates directory at
ftp.grisoft.com - the latest update there is 03.29.04 ----- Since the
latest update is about 500K, it may be a number of days before the
grisoft.cz site will be responsive again.

Bleah...

I just downloaded an update from free.grisoft.cz dated 3/31/04, database:
415.
