Hey all,

Anyone else having a problem updating AVG version 6.0?

Keeps telling me there is a server mismatch. One of the necessary files are
missing.

This happens with an existing install or new install.

TIA

Gary

I had no problems this morning with a large update file,
now at 7.0.230 for this licenced version.

I am having update problems as well. Seems that there's an issue connecting
to the AVG site to get the downloads. This is the first time this happened
to me.

There was an earlier post regarding this problem. I am repeating the
post. Hope the OP doesn't object. I tried it and it worked for me.
My (FREE) AVG indicates last update version is: 6.0.624; virus database 401;
3/15/04.

According to their site, it looks like there is a 3/22/04 one.

But, when I try and update "from the internet" it says that it cannot
establish a connection.

So, I d/l the file (u6122xx0.bin), stored it in the Updates directory
(Grisoft/Avg), and tried to specify that folder in doing an AVG update. But
it says no update is there.

Any ideas?

Save the following text in notepad as url.ini
copy file and paste in the AVG program folder

[SERVER_NAME]
1=free.grisoft.cz
2=ftp.grisoft.com
3=www.grisoft.com

[SERVER_URL]
1=http://free.grisoft.cz/softw/60/fe
2=ftp.grisoft.com/pub/softw/60/fe/
3=http://www.grisoft.com/softw/60/fe/
Actual URL=3

you now have three locations to update from
Hope this helps.

reading this NG over the time it seems to me (using BitDefender) that
the problems with AVG (updates and so on and so on) is a never ending
story. Even if there are some workarounds, this software/handlings seems
not to be for 'normal' users imagination simply install a software and
run it. This concerns especially Norton and McAfee too.
