AVG speed help

I just downloaded the new version of AVG. I had no problems or
conflicts with setup. However, my browser began to move at a crawl. I
tried a couple of browsers thinking that the problem was the browser but
the speed didn't pick up. I also terminated the email plug in. It
doesn't seem to be a typical problem for other users. Does anyone have
suggestions for this?
I've switched back to Avast for now until I have a solution for this.

Were you running boty AVG and AVAST at the same time?

No. I use avast as a backup scanner and turn it on manually.
