AVG Resident Shield Question

I've got a dumb question about AVG. Whenever AVG Resident Shield
identifies a virus, it asks if I want to "enable access" [yes/no].

My question is "enable access" to what? The nasty virus or the program so
it can stop/heal it. Web searches and a cursory look at the help files
haven't helped clear this up for me. I just usually choose "no" to be on
the safe side.

Thanks in advance,
Larry

The message pops up when you attempt to open the file containing
the virus, either by trying to execute it, or trying to read it
using another program.

Whether or not you want to enable access, depends on what you're
doing. Execute? No way!!! Open with another program, such as
winhex, so you can look at it? Yes.

Hope this helps.
