Chris

I seem to have problems making a rescue disk using AVG Freeversion
now. Is it possible that the rescue disk function has been deactivated
since version 7 came out. I can't successfully make the set of rescue
disks on several machines. Anybody else successful??

That subject comes up ad nauseum on the virus lists. The file sizes
are now too large for standard 1.44 meg diskettes. Some have used
special 1.7 meg formatted disks. Depending on which version of Windoze
you use, there are better alternatives.

Thanks you were right. I should have gone to an antivirus group first.
They had a solution by formatting the second floppy as 1.7 and it
seems to work just fine.

What are the better alternatives that you mentioned

thanks again

You didn't metion your OS. For Win 9x/ME there are emergency boot disk
set utilitities available for F-Prot DOS (which is a better av than
AVG). I have one available at my web site which also updates F-Prot
and provides mouse facilities. There's also AVDisk which can be used
with F-Prot and several other av product DOS versions.

For NTFS file systems on Win 2K/ME it's a different ball game. I won't
get into the various alternatives for that mess since it gets quite
involved and there are many methods of approaching the problem. It
also gets way off topic for this n.g.
thanks again

You're welcome.
