Presuming you mean the Update Manager then :-
Open the User Interface and double click on the Update Manager icon.
In the window that appears click to put a tick in the Start automatic
updates under the Update Manager settings near the bottom

No, I mean this
http://www.avg.com/faq.num-1612#faq_1612

He was using avg_free_stb_all_8_32_cnet.exe
to do the download. He exited out of that and can find not out how
to restart the download without starting over.

It is dumb to have a download manager if you cant restart the download
after you exit.

He contacted me today and say it does restart it just does not show it
correctly. Avg download manager makes it look like your starting
from scratch when you are not. Most download mangers tell you how
much you download and how much is left. Avg download manager does not
work that way. He figured this out from this from watching the avg
folder.
