Yes.

[snipped useless, broken AVG sig]

The AVG sig serves NO purpose whatsoever, and does not comply with the
'dash-dash-space' delimiter so that it gets automatically snipped by
compliant news readers.

http://www.chemie.fu-berlin.de/outerspace/netnews/son-of-1036.html#4.3.2

Please open AVG and disable the sig completely. AVG can NOT certify
anything of the sort, and if your system is clean, the signature is
redundant anyway.

Right click the AVG icon / E-mail scanner tab;
Uncheck 'Certify Outgoing Messages'; and
Apply / OK.

Thanks.

Yes - I have been trying for several days - no luck. Also email AVG
support - no reply.

Uninstalled product - re-installed - still no luck (on 3 different
puters)

Looks like their server is down - hopefully they will be back up soon.

Is anyone else having problems getting the auto update to connect with
AVG?

Open the file url.ini located in your AVG folder. It may look similiar to
this ..

[SERVER_NAME]
1=free.grisoft.cz

[SERVER_URL]
1=http://free.grisoft.cz/softw/60/fe
Actual URL=1

If you add extra lines so that it looks like this ...

[SERVER_NAME]
1=free.grisoft.cz
2=ftp.grisoft.com
3=www.grisoft.com

[SERVER_URL]
1=http://free.grisoft.cz/softw/60/fe
2=ftp.grisoft.com/pub/softw/60/fe/
3=http://www.grisoft.com/softw/60/fe/
Actual URL=1

then you will have the choice of any of those 3 servers for downloads.

Hope that helps.

That should be:

THAT IS TOTALLY WRONG

Actual URL=1 will show server 1 as default in drop down list,
Actual URL=2 will show server 2 as default in drop down list,
Actual URL=3 will show server 3 as default in drop down list

The AVG sig serves NO purpose whatsoever, and does not comply with the
'dash-dash-space' delimiter so that it gets automatically snipped by
compliant news readers.

So don't use it on newsgroup posts. Big deal. How many viruses are
passed by newsgroup posts? It's an EMAIL SIG! So on the reverse, who
cares if anyone uses it on a newsgroup post? AVG didn't make it for
newsgroup posts so why bother complaining that it doesn't comply with
newsgroup sig rules? Again, it's an EMAIL SIG!

And it's not even a sig - it's a text attachment. So your complaint
is irrelevant on two counts.
Please open AVG and disable the sig completely. AVG can NOT certify
anything of the sort, and if your system is clean, the signature is
redundant anyway.

It tells people you are trying, which is why I use it on my email.
Again, it's an EMAIL SIG!

However, I did change mine to read "CLAIMED to be virus-free. YMMV!"
which is more accurate and serves to remind others that they are
responsible for their own security.

Some people just have nothing better to do than attack people for
doing something which is utterly insignificant to them or anyone else.

Nobody (except you and some other anti-Grisoft trolls) cares whether
people use the AVG email notice.

Followed the directions below, and whooooopie,
got right in and downloaded the latest update.

Thanks for the tip!

Some newsreaders seem to interpret it as an attachment which is why I
said that. I sent a couple emails to a person who uses UNIX
exclusively and he said my "attachments" were missing.
