Patches Forever

I used AVG Free for a couple years and have no complaints. I never got any
virus and I liked the user interface. The interface was just hierarchical
organized options and settings. Not the kindergarten, or disneyland kind of
look and feel.

Now they are going to charge for it. I guess I still want something that's
reliable and free. Maybe I'll but the pay version of AVG - I don't know.

What's still out there that is reliable and free and gets updated with new
virus info and patches ?

Thanks. Bill S.

Try AOL's free AVS. It's Kaspersky Antivirus inside and very good.
Just make sure you don't accept installation the optional aol toolbar.

There is a free version of AVG 7.5

http://free.grisoft.com/doc/avg-anti-virus-free/lng/us/tpl/v5

Read the instructions, they say to choose the "Repair" option
if you have AVG already installed.

Hello Sanjaya. I will try what you said. Do you suppose this 'fix' will
keep us running for long, or do you think they will put a stop to it soon.

Thanks for the info.

No, that is NOT true, you do NOT read what you see!

Hello Sanjaya. I will try what you said. Do you suppose this 'fix' will
keep us running for long, or do you think they will put a stop to it soon.

Please read:

http://free.grisoft.com/doc/1
"New FREE Anti-Virus"

http://free.grisoft.com/doc/2/lng/us/tpl/v5
"Get AVG Anti-Virus FREE"
"New in AVG 7.5"

And finally, you should read:
http://windowssecrets.com/comp/061116#langa0

As Sanjaya told you, and as you can read everywhere,
there is a NEW version of the FREE AVG,
and NOT just a "fix", as you call it.

What do you not understand about this?
:-P

(I am very glad, I do not use AVG.)
