I have a desktop computer running XP Home SP2. I'm using Windows
Firewall, and my antivirus is AVG Free Edition version 6.
AVG is set to check for updates every morning at 10:01am ET, and if
not successful, to try again a day later. The "User confirms Dial-Up
connection" is unchecked because I have a cable modem.
This morning at 10:29am, I checked to see if AVG had updated itself.
Nothing. So I figured no new updates had been released that day. But just
out of curiosity I clicked the "update now" button and new files were
downloaded. It's possible those new files were released after 10:01am, but
I suspect something isn't configured properly. Do I need to open up Windows
Firewall's Exception list and manually add AVG to the list? I didn't have
to do this with eTrust EZ Antivirus.
