I have just installed the latest version of AVG Free (downloaded yesterday)
and installed it onto a completely fresh install of Win XP Pro SP 2 on my
laptop. Problem is that most (but not all) of the time that I boot i get
the error 'Driver Core Not Found' and I get the 'Unresponsive program' error
on shutdown. I have uninstalled it and reinstalled but still the same
problem. The same download works fine however on my desktop PC (also XP Pro
SP2)

Anyone else had this, or know a solution?

Thanks
Neil

Happened to me just recently on a winXP Pro SP1 machine. Googled some
references that were not much help. I uninstalled, cleaned, reinstalled
and it continued to happen in the user login, not the admin login. If I
ran AVG afterwards it seemed to load OK but the systemtray icon was
missing. I cycled some AVG options to no good effect.

Eventually it stopped coming up with the error. The only other change I
made at the time was to disable autologon (with TweakXP) that I
previously enabled for the user.

Go figure.
