Hi all,

I'm getting nasty crashes (BSOD, fatal exceptions that won't let me
restart etc.) from AVG. I've tried to uninstall it through both the
annoying window that pops-up on start-up and through the Start menu, AVG
Uninstall option, but everytime I do so, I get the following and it
isn't uninstalled:

1 error found:

RunOnceParam Undefined.

I'm using Windows XP Home, and I'm incredibly frustrated.

Just tried emailing GriSoft Technical Support for help, but they can't
find my license number and therefore won't give me technical support.

Granted, I'm, you know, using the Trial Version which states:

"In addition, you will have access to the AVG Technical Support team for
the duration of your Trial license."

So, where the hell is my Trial license number, so that I can get the
help I need to get this unholy program off my computer?

Did you try control panel ad and remove programs? If that don't work use
jv16 Power Tools.

You got a trial licence number in an e-mail they sent. It is the serial
number you used to install it.

Try re-installing the product then uninstalling it. Failng that, use
System Restore to roll back to a restore point before you installed AVG
then manually delete the files left behind.

Actually, the number was generated by the program, and as near as I can
determine is only supplied when you install the trial program. I
installed on another computer and used that number to get passed the
GriSoft e-mail screening. Still haven't gotten a response though. I
mean, it's only corrupted by Windows XP installation...

Finally managed to uninstall by using the reinstallation/repair/remove
method, followed up by a jv16 purge of all things GriSoft/AVG from my
computer. Appears to be stable so far (fingers crossed).

Incidentally, I think this is a case where the cure (AVG) is worse than
the disease (viruses), at least for my computer.

Thanks for the suggestions and help.

Run the install program for AVG again and it will give you an
uninstall option and uninstall clean. Had this same issue with a few
of my clients utilizing AVG 7 trial.

I had this problem. Restart your PC, stop all AVG tasks. Delete files from
AVG folder, run a reg cleaner and restart and problem is solved.
