Is there anyway of stopping this application from scanning for potential cracked software?

i.e. On my backup CDs, i'll add a text file called Product Key. However, AVG will pick this up as a potential virus.
 
As feckit has already said that its illegal software. So we are unable to provide any help or support on this.

I clearly explained my case, POTENTIAL.

PC Review has just lost my support.

If that's all it takes to get up your nose then farewell matey :wave:

But FWIW, yes, there is a solution - uninstall AVG and use either Antivir or Avast which are both better than AVG anyway.

And as for you two thought police, PCR is unlikely to get any comebacks on this, so don't worry and think twice about adapting that hectoring attitude.

A polite pointing out may be in order that cracked software, warez etc is illegal but supposing somebody is writing an article for a magazine, quite legally, and AVG, in all it's self-righteousness, removes it as a virus?

Which also makes me think the easiest answer may be just to rename the text file, doh... :rolleyes:

I would at this point normally throw my teddy out the pram & stamp my feet.
But i was just making the point about cracked software etc, thinking it was a worthy point to make.

I stand corrected.
And will go and stand in the corner, where i belong.:p

Look, let's get this straight.

You are both right in what you think, but......

The Forum has Moderators to take care of this stuff so please leave it to us.

I don't want to be laying down rules and regs but not all mentions of naughty stuff warrants a rather severe slap on the wrist from fellow forum members, is that understandable?

We all value regular forum members' attendance here, I happen to think we have a good community going, but in this instance you seem to have scared off a potential regular by coming on heavy handed, would you not agree?

You may also agree that if he's that sensitive then good ridaance ;)

Point taken if it were talk about torrents or something like that but its not so its not that bad.
