AVG 7 update patch trouble

Perhaps a lot are getting this. There is a megabyte update patch and
it comes up with "Internet connection error."

If I download the newest AVG 7 install program, will it have it?
 
I got a different message. It started downloading OK, then aborted and said
that it couldn't "initialize", and my installation was probably damaged, and
that I should reinstall AVG free edition. I suspect that's just anoth
cop-out. Their server is probably just too busy, which has been a perpetual
problem with AVG updates for a long time now. They need more update server
capacity.
 
I just checked their website and it says:

Program update AVG Free 7.296
This update contains many fixes and improvements. Most important changes
include: improved processing of database files by the resident shield, that
solves problems with slow performance of some systems and applications
improved archive handling - better support for various malformed archives
fixed bug with AVG Control Center indicated as "not responding" on certain
Win9x systems improvements in the Personal e-mail scanner and many other.
We recommend you to update your AVG Free Edition using the built-in udpate
function so that the much smaller differential update is used.

That was obviously written in a hurry, as indicated by their typo. Also
obviously the usual built-in update function is not working for me (or you),
so the only way seems to be to download the entire new free version and
reinstall it. So that's what I'm doing now, all 10.1MB of it. The .pdf
documentation is also a new version, so guess it must also be redownloaded
too. Hope this doesn't happen too often... :(
