Since I upgraded my free AVG to v7, I get little messages at the brh
corner of the monitor screen from time to time about checking outgoing
mail. It seems to say that it's checking it, and mentions individual
mails. But I don't want to check incoming or outgoing mail, and both
are deselected in the avg configuration settings thingy. Why is this
happening please?

When the AVG7 installation includes a mail scanner plugin,
a mail proxy is installed. All mail incoming and outgoing
will pass thru this proxy--even if you have disabled mail
scanning. The spinning AVG icon in the tray is just showing
that mail is passing through.
This can be stopped by uninstalling AVG7 and reinstalling
without the mail scanner plugins. This is what I did to mine.

Right, thanks very much.
