hi all...... I downloaded , installed free version 7 and did the updates.
After doing so I lost the ability to get any email. Constantly received the
error 0X800CCC90. I tried disabling anything that affected email in 7 and it
made no difference. I exited 7 completely and still no dice. I could find no
changes in any of my email acct properties to account for this loss.

In the end I had to do a system restore to get my email accts working again.
I reinstalled ver 6.0.794 and did the updates and everything is working
fine.

Anyone have any ideas how I could get the new version working , I've been
using
AVG for several years and would hate to lose it at the end of the year when
older versions will no longer be supported.

I'm sure I must be missing something simple.

Thanks

I had the same problem and found out that it was related to Zone

Ok Bob......... I do have ZA installed so maybe I have the same problem.
Quess I'll have to explore that angle and see if that's the issue.
If you find a fix let us know.

I don't remember if there was an error number.

Read the manual in regards to what settings have to be changed in Win XP
firewall.

It might be an issue between AVG's email protection and ZoneAlarm's mailsafe.
Try disabling "Mailsafe" (under Email protection) in Zonealarm?

Try using their forums for help.

I've installed on two XP systems and one W98SE system with no problems.

Do you have to remove the old version6 first? Can you just do this from
the add/remove in device manager or do I have to go some place else to
do this, can you install version7 right over 6?
I have not tried anything myself, yet! But I know that I will need to
get the new 7, asap, but I don't want to screw things up.
Thanks for any help and info.

When you install v7 it will remove v6 for you if you
tell it to.
