AVERAGE IF

My function is: =AVERAGEIF($B$4:$B$50,"1",$D$4:$D$50)

What I am trying to accomplish is taking the average of the values in column
B, if the value in column D = 1. All data are on the same sheet. What am I
doing wrong?

Firstly, you need to find a newsgroup (or a forum) dealing with Excel...
apparently the UI for the MS forums makes it difficult to find the correct
one, as this newsgroup is for the .NET framework.
