Average Duration

I am trying to find the average gestation period for a person contacting my business until the time he/she buys. I have entered into the spreadhseet the initial contact date and I have entered into the spreasheet the sales date. I then used a formula I found online to return what the gestation period is for each of those customers. For each one, I have X years, Y months and Z days. I then wish to calculate the average, median, standard deviation, etc for that range of gestations, but when I use the standard formula for calculating an average (which works when the cells just contain regular numbers), and put in the cells with the calculated getsation data, all I get is a Div/O! message. How do i calculate the average gestation period

Hi Tom
you should use the AVERAGE function of a column that contains only
values (I guess currently your column contains text values). e.g. use a
helper column which returns the time in days and use the calculation on
this helper column
