I am trying to understand DAVERAGE. However I do not think that this
is what I want.
May I have a pointer towards the function to use to produce the needed
result set from the data set?

Data Set
---------------------------
A B C
1 Team Type Time
2 Alpha 1 5.5
3 Beta 2 3.5
4 Alpha 1 5
5 Delta 3 4
6 Beta 2 2
7 Charlie 3 4

Needed Result Set - Avg Time

Hi,

You could use a pivot table. Drag team to the row area, type to the column
area and time to the data area. Change the value field setting from Sum to
average

Hi,

You cannot use the DAVERAGE() function with this format. For the Database
functions to work, you must have the criteria arranged in columns (not in a
matrix structure) as show by you. Alternatively, we will get the output in
the designated format for the DAVERAGE() and then recast the output in your
format

We are using Excel 2003.

I had never used a pivot table before - very easy to use.

Thank you for the responses. Thank you Ashish Mathur!
