Does anyone know how large of a file VRDB will be? It sounds like a
great idea but how much hard drive space is it going to use?

I uninstalled AVG and installed AVAST and so far it is great. It found
a worm in an email attachment already.

Mines less than 3 meg on 20gig hard drive. The file to check is avast.int
file usually found here...
C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\DATA\integ

By the way the free version doesnt have scheduled scanning but you can over
come this by using this path (c:\ being the usual drive label of course) and
entering it in windows task sheduler or another similar sheduler

"C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\ASHQUICK.EXE" c:\

Soapbox:
It is advisable to NOT test email attachments with AV's. If the
definitions do not cover 'that' infected file you will become
infected. It is a safehex practice to delete uninvited attachments.

My VDRB, stored in the virus chest, is composed of only two files,
kernel32.dll and wsock32.dll, 512k. Look at
Start|Run|msconfig|StartUP|Avast|.
C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\ASHSERV.EXE must have the
checkmark for the 'chest' to operate.

I found the file Bassbag referred to and mine is 3.48 meg. The
two files in the virus chest I had mentioned, are most likely
targets of malware and so are backed up for protection.
