Hi I use Avast as my Anti virus program but it seems to have a problem
sending attachments It sends very small ones but anything of any size is a
problem.
The green progress bar makes its way across but nothing is sent unless I
turn off on access protection.
It then sends ok
Any ideas as to what the problem might be.
I have delved into the settings but cannot find anything to sort out the
problem.

You probably have email scanning turned on (Outbound). General consensus
is you can turn that off. Leave the resident protection on. Modern
viruses do not use your mail application to send viruses.

I turn off Inbound as well, as viruses are easy to recognize.

Hi Thanks Tried that no difference Just will not send attachments.

Then something else is wrong.

Can you send large files by some other means? FTP to a web site? Find a
speed test site and see what your upload speeds are.

Please quote the relevant bits of what you are replying to, as I've done
here. If I hadn't set this thread to Watch, I'd have ignored your
response. Thanks. Quote as I'm doing in this post, e.g. trim as
necessary.

I run Avast with default settings. No problems sending attachments.
