Avast 4.6 messed me up

Been reading the problems some have been having with
4.6 and Zone Alarm. Well 4.6 conflicted with Spybot's
Tea Timer on my computer. I couldn't browse until I
turned off Tea Timer.

Also I couldn't receive any email via Outlook Express.

After wasting a great deal of time trying to figure out
what the problem was, and after reading the posts here
I uninstalled 4.6 and went back to 4.5 and everything is
back to normal.

I do not have an install for 4.5 since it always updated automatically on
my system and didn't save the files. Do you know where I can get the most
recent 4.5 version?

You're welcome Patty.

Don't forget to turn off the automatic program update (or whatever it's
called) option in Avast or else you'll be upgraded to v4.6 again.

I just terminated the WebShield in Avast 4.6 per a suggestion in another
forum. Now everything works like it used to.

All there was to do was use common sense rather than listen to the headless
chickens whingeing in this NG.
Avast 4.6 works fine.

Not for me with ZoneAlarm, it doesn't. Don't you read the Avast forums?

I'm not running the webshield either. I tried going to High security
regarding 3rd party cookies using the IE tools and that caused problems on
several sites. What I do now is turn off the Zone Alarm cookies and ad
blocking from time to time as need be, until Avast writes another patch.

I've also turned off the NNTP scanning on the Internet Mail as it was
slowing down Xnews to a crawl.

do you have NNTP scanning on in you Internet Mail shield? If so, it doesn't
play havoc with your Forte Agent 1.93 when you download a binary file?
