Avast 4.5 + Mozilla Thunderbird

I have installed Outlook Express, Mozilla Thunderbird and Avast 4.5.
With Outlook Express I can send and receive messages correctly.
With Thunderbird I can receive, but not send messages; I have this error
message: "... mail server has answered : RCPT
TO:<[email protected]>Ralaying not allowed - please used SMTP AUTH....
I dont'understand...
Can someone help me?

Are the smtp settings set the same in both OE+TB?(they should be)
Have you upgraded to 4.5 or is this a new install?
