Avant browser cannot find server

I have downloaded Avant Browser on the recommendation of the WebUser
Gold Award.
However, although I am online, the browser only gives me the message
"cannot find server".
Internet explorer 6 still works - should I have uninstalled it?
My OS is Windows ME and all my system requirements are as recommended.
Any advice?

Have you looked at the configuration? Proxies, for instance....
Configured your firewall properly?
