Availale updates will not apply

Got a probelem. System tell me I have the following updates available on
my system:
KB687282
KB872229
KB887472
KB890830

But if I try to apply them it tells me it was unsuccessful. I am still
running with SP1. This is the first time I have had this problem. I
even tried the custom install and tried each one separately to no avail.
Any clues.
 
Where are you seeing these? If you are seeing them in Add/Remove Programs,
they are already applied. Please check your spelling on the first two since
I could not find them in the knowledgebase. The third is an update to
Messenger and the fourth is an update to the Malicious Software Removal
Tool.

You are right on the first two. Here is the revised list:
KB867282
KB873339
KB887472
KB890830

I get an updates available icon in the task bar and when I click on it
it presents the list as available updates. But when I say ok to install
them, the system churns for awhile and hen says that the installation
was unsucessful.

I checked the Add/Remove Programs and they are not there.
 
Turn off your antivirus scanner while you try to install and see if that
helps. Use the link I gave you to identify the updates if you want to know
what they are.

Colin,
Turning off the antivirus scanner did the trick. All the updates
installed. Thank you for your time and patience.
