Can anyone please advise me on the availability of replacement leader tapes
for Quantum DLT7000 drives?

Jsut bought a unit off eBay and it has no leader tape, as well as a broken
warranty seal. Surely not a good sign.

cheers,
Carl

Well I would, except that I have waited since 1st of January for it (over 40
days), and the guy was in Canada (I'm in England). To be honest I am happy
that I even received _something_.

The description didn't trick at all, and in fact it is for a "Compaq 35/70
DLT, working just pulled from Proliant 5000, guaranteed non-doa". I have
waited ages.. multiple emails and lies that it was sent "over a month ago"
(although Parcel Force say it was sent on 30th Jan!), and the drive is
actually a Quantum badged unit - not Compaq badged. (I realise they are all
Quantum, but even in the picture on eBay it's a Compaq) So clearly I didn't
receive what I paid for :-)

I have emailed him but to be honest it seems DLT drives fail quite
frequently after a certain age, and my idea of trying to make money from
buying them on eBay could be a complete failure.

So you where ripped off, it seems. There was a nice article on Ebay
scams in the german computer magazine c't recently. Seems Ebay does
not care and the reputation system is frequently manipulated.

Seems so to me.
