I've googled myself nearly to death trying to find an Anti-Virus
comparison chart.
I want to know if one exist.
Please help if you can.
Pedro,
BTDT. Googling for AV product comparisons, or any other security
solution for that matter, usually results in a ton of hits for sites
that list reviews, poll results and opinions that are suspect at best
due to advertising conflicts of interest. Here is some info that you
may find of interest.
AV-Test (Andreas Marx - Germany)
(
http://www.av-test.org/)
AV-Comparatives (Andreas Clementi - Austria)
(
http://www.av-comparatives.org/)
Virus.gr (VirusP - Greece)
(
http://www.virus.gr/english/fullxml/default.asp)
Virus Test Center (University of Hamburg)
(
http://agn-www.informatik.uni-hamburg.de/vtc/en0407.htm)
Food for thought (Eugene Kaspersky)
(

Notes:
1) Keep in mind that trends are always more important than any
individual test.
2) The Uni Hamburg site hasn't been updated for a while, but one would
hope that someone will take over the project and update the results
with current AV apps.
3) Virus P is a virus collector (some people collect souvenirs - g),
and his work and results are controversial, particularly among the
Eset crowd. He updates his site regularly, but take his results with a
healthy grain of salt.
4) In Eugene Kaspersky's essay, he talks about Virus Bulletin's 100%
Awards. While the accolades for KAV are nice, he contends that VB's
methods are not in the same class as av-test and/or av-comparatives.
5) Finally, none of this stuff means squat without testing a given AV
solution on your system with your specific needs.
