Our old Slave Hard Drive was getting corrupted a lot (it
was 8 years old) so we got a new one and I dropped it in
this morning. When the computer starts up, the new drive
is recognised as the primary slave, but when windows 2000
gets running, the drive is not accessable. Can anybody
tell me if I am missing a step or have done something
wrong (the book that came with windows 2000 doesn't get
into slave drives)

You have to Format the drive, this can be done from the Management consol.
Accessed via help or Start/Programs/Administrative Tools
