Can anyone point me at a site where I can learn everything I always
wanted to know about the autotext function?

I can follow the Help function as far as the mechanics of doing it but
I'm interested in things like
Capacity/Intended use;
I know what it is but have used it for short items only, whereas I'm
currently researching different ways of producing contracts which would
require a higher volume, in other words, I don't want to use the
function for something that it wasn't intended for (always get in
trouble when I do that!). Help implies that it can hold "large"
quantities but I don't want to trip over a difference in meanings of
"large"!

Where it's stored, transportability .
The contract function, whatever form it winds up as, would be in a
template located on a Workgroup directory.

Using Wrd97.

An AutoText FAQ has been in process for some time but hasn't been published
yet. For some useful information on AutoText, however, see
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/TblsFldsFms/AutoTextList.htm. According to “WD97:
Operating Parameter Limitations and Specifications"
[http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=168804], although AutoText entry names
are limited to 32 characters, the number of entries in a document template
is limited only by available memory, and nothing whatever is said about the
size (though of course that would also be limited by available memory).

Suzanne;

Geez, I'm keeping you busy tonight!

Thanks, I'll start my "fishing expedition" there.

Hi, Rob,

Also look at http://members.verizon.net/~vze27sds/autotext.htm. It's
an article that's waiting to be posted at word.mvps.org.

Ah, right, Rob, that's the article I was referring to. I guess I should make
a note of Jay's URL so I can reuse it. <g>

There is also an article on AutoText and AutoCorrect with an Equation Editor
focus at the Design Science Web site, www.dessci.com. The URL seems to be
http://www.dessci.com/en/support/tutorials/autocorrect/tutorial.htm
