I've created a Presentation, but can't find how to have the
presentation start automatically once the cd is inserted. When I try
to create an "autorun.inf" file, it give an error message when trying
to open the presentation automatically. Something about not having
access.

Has anyone created a CD with a power point on it that will start up
the presentation when the CD is inserted into the computer?? PLEASE
HELP!

Wade

Still, even with the package function - will the cd start immediately when inserted? Not in my experience! Please help.

Yes, it should autorun if your CD drive has not had the autorun function
turned off. Have you created a CD and tested it on a couple of systems? If
it doesn't autorun, then let us know what version of Windows you are
running. I'm assuming that you're running PowerPoint 2003. Did you allow
PowerPoint to burn the CD, or did you package it to a folder and then burn
the CD separately in your CD burning software?

My powerpoint was created with the Office 2000 software running on
Windows ME. burned the CD with Adaptec EZ CD Creator V.4. I'm
guessing the problem is in creating an autorun.inf file that will
start up the presentation once the CD is inserted into the drive.

It seems like this should be a common practice for people who send out
power point presentations to folks and wish to streamline the start
up. ?? Not sure.. please help.

You are right. I mixed it up with the "pack and go" I have on the 2002 version. If I follow the link, will I be able to create a cd that will autorun? Is there any other way to do it?
Also, the computer on which I created the slideshow doesn't have web acces, while my computer with the modem doesn't have a cd burner. Is there any way I can download something on floppy and transfer it to the other computer?
Thanks a lot.

As Sonia mentioned earlier,

If you have PowerPoint 2003 you can do this with the Package for CD
function. If not then look at
http://www.soniacoleman.com/Tutorials/PowerPoint/acdpc.htm or
http://www.echosvoice.com/

Since you don't have 2003, seems as if you need to have a look at those links.

For the third time, if you'd look at the information in the links, you'd know the answer to this -- and in much less time than it takes me to type this response.

My site has do it yourself instructions. Sonia's has information on a shareware program that will help you tremendously.

Do it yourself doesn't require a download.
Sonia's software would. It may fit on a floppy, I don't know. If not, and if you can't use a CD, then maybe consider a USB Flash drive or something like that.

In either case the PowerPoint Viewer will have to be downloaded. Wade, I
think you need to consider purchasing a thumb drive so that you can
transport more than a floppy between your systems, or a modem on your
PowerPoint system, or a burner on your system with internet connectivity.
You hardware is restricting you and there are inexpensive solutions
available.

You're responding to someone else's post, Sonia. Not mine. I have
inet access 24/7. HOwever, I was able to resolve the autostart
problem by simply creating a start up script that is executed by the
autorun.inf file. Worked like a charm. Thanks for all the feedback
tho.

Yes, someone else dipped into this thread, I guess. It's always hard to
tell who's posting, but there are replies from dm who needs to add hardware
to make his job easier.
