Autoscan hangs with All-In-Wonder Radeon

I'm having trouble with an older ATI TV card. It's an AGP card just called
All-in-Wonder Radeon, with no number after it. I just moved it to a new
computer, and after struggling to get all the right drivers loaded, I'm having
trouble getting the TV section to get through it's initial configuration.

I can play files just fine, but not TV. When I start the TV program, it takes
me into its config section. I set it for cable rather than antenna, then
proceed to the Autoscan. It finds a signal on channel 2, then one on channel 3,
then on channel 4 it just hangs. It'll stay there forever if I let it.

Needless to say, the autoscan never completes, so the next time I start it, it
goes back through the autoscan again. There seems to be no way to get past it.

The motherboard is a Soyo P4VGM. I've installed the latest BIOS and the latest
chipset drivers. I've also installed the latest ATI software for this card.

ATI MMC version 9.14
ATI driver version 8.252 (Radeon 7200 series)
ATI WDM drivers version 6.14.10.6246
"Hyperion" 5.10A drivers from the VIA site
Current BIOS from Soyo website

Any ideas on how to troubleshoot or fix this?
 
I would do a repair in the Windows Control Panel>Add or Remove Progams>ATI
Multimedia Center 9.14. Once there click change and repair. If that doesn't
work, uninstall ATI Multimedia Center 9.14 and reinstall again.

With that All-In-Wonder video card called "ATI All-In-Wonder Radeon Series",
use video drivers Cat 6.11 and of course, ATI Multimedia Center 9.14.

Try using MMC9.02 and WDMs from the same era. AFAIK support for older Radeon
cards stopped with it. There's instructions on determining what card you
have on the website.

Indeed, that seems to have solved it. I'm having no trouble at all with the
current video drivers, nor with the WDMs. But going back to the earlier version
of the MMC solved the problem. I've got it configured properly and working now.

Two tricky parts: 1) Finding the older version on the ATI website. I had to
get creative, but I found it. 2) Finding the audio output "tail" for the card
itself. I still haven't found it. If it doesn't turn up soon, this won't have
accomplished much - what good is the TV if I can't hear it? It's here somewhere.

Maybe someone could remind me of what it looks like? The input one is a purple
wire with a purple block of connectors for A/V input (S-Video, composite, left,
right). What does the output one look like? Sorry for being so clueless <g>.

Never mind. It finally dawned on me that this card has an audio feed on the
card itself. So I connected it internally, and the audio is working fine. I
still need to find the cable eventually, but the immediate goal has been
accomplished.
