EXCEL 2000

Hi Lunker55!

One way:

Tools > Addins
Remove check from the AutoSave Add-in.
OK

Another way.

It should "remember" you've turned it off and it's likely that it
takes the setting from your Personal.xls or another file that is in
your XLSTART folder. Unhide your Personal.xls workbook and change the
setting there. Re-hide the Personal.xls and make sure when you close
Excel that you agree to save changes to the Personal.xls file.

Finally:

It may be a problem with Excel 2000. See:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;231117

SYMPTOMS
When you start Microsoft Excel, the settings that you previously
specified for the AutoSave feature are not retained.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, obtain Microsoft Office 2000 Service Release
1/1a (SR-1/SR-1a).

To obtain SR-1/SR-1a, click the article number below to view the
article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

Service Release 1/1a (SR-1/SR-1a)

Hi lunker55!

That's the usual solution <vbg>

But Jan Karel Pieterse has a more useful AutoSafe function can be
