What success or favourite Menu software is out there either in use or known
to those who burn data to cd . The Cd automatically starts with a visible
menu that anyone of any ability can click on a label(button) and get to the
photo album, the text, or whatever is stored on the CD.
I have had good success with QuickMenu builder
(http://www.quickmenubuilder.com/ ) but I just wondered if there were other
choices.

I've used UF Autorun before http://www.ufworld.com/ufautorun/ (version 1 is
freeware)

I used this one to good effect when I distributed my huge family
picture archive project.

When you used ptautorun did you have it start up a slideshow software? If
there are several folders on the CD how did you work it that the viewer
could get to the other folders?
I downloaded Ptautorun yesterday and I can see how it will open an html file
therefore I wondered if there were an assortment of file types on the CD how
the (possibly) unskilled viewer would get to the various files? I wondered
if it were possible to link from an index.html to other files therefore the
opening html page might get the viewer to other places. I visualized that it
has to be a menu but I could be stuck in a perception.

Hi,
I've had good success with MediaMenu (http://www.ampsoft.net/). It
does everything with .ini files, so to change your menu all you have
to do is edit the file in notepad or whatever. Fairly nice interface
and all -- could use some improvements, but it's pretty good for being
free.

The _very_ best autorun creation program I ever came across (and I did
a 3-month extensive search/test for this at the time) is CD Autorun
(freeware edition).

Unfortunately, couldn't get to the homepage at all this morning though
I tried several times. Too slow to load. I imagine it's either too
much traffic or something else.

At any rate, I found various references to it. Here's one:
http://www.freedownloadscenter.com/...tation_Tools/CD_AutoRun_Freeware_Edition.html
The dl link on that page goes directly to the developer's page, which
also doesn't seem to be working, but this site's dl link works:
http://www.imagespro.com/programs/725/
direct link:
http://www.installsite.org/files/autorun102.zip

The thing is that there is nothing there to show you what this program
can do. It's an awesome one. You can create really professional
autoruns just like commercial software installation ones you get when
you purchase a program. You can create screens with sound effects and
buttons. The limit is your creativity YET IT'S EASY to use!!

Here's the URL for the homepage. If you manage to get to it, check
out the examples page. The one with the forest-type of graphic with
running water WAV file is my favourite, though the others are
incredible, too. And they range from simple to complex, so you get a
good feel. As I said, incredibly easy to use yet the results are
stunning.

Good luck and hth!

I compressed the (extremely) long named files and their comples folder
structures into four roughly 500 mb .zip files. Then I used:

http://www.woundedmoon.org/win32/semkr100.html

to convert the .zip files into self extracting archives and specified
a default installation folder location on the hard drive. The
autorun.inf file simply ran the SE file. This was the only way I could
come up with to save the long file names and folder structure the way
I created them.
As for viewing the files, I included a copy of Irfanview on the
first CD of each set. This was not a commercial distribution, since I
*gave* sets of the archive to my family members, so there should be no
problem with having given them a copy of the program. I also included
instructions for installing, configuring and using Irfanview.

I'm on a dialup and at the best of times what is fast is really slo-o-ow and
the above site has to extremely busy or slower than my dial up. I put supper
together and the recommended by Fitwell ' check out the examples page. The

favourite' never did download.
To get what is needed it would be necessary to purchase the Pro version for
the freeware isn't built to open a document.
The QuickMenu Builder does all that CD Autorun Pro will do so I'll stay with
it for now.
If the connection was faster I would have downloaded to give it a try.
Thanks
And to Mr.Corliss I'll pass that method along to an associate who is doing
the same massive image collection in folders. He is using Jpegger 4.27 as
the viewer/slideshow presenter by http://www.vallen.de which has upgraded
to v4.28 . The earlier edition runs better on my machine 4.02? I haven't
figured out if Jpegger would just keep displaying successive folders.

You might take a look at FotoAlbum. You can make photo CDs easily - the
CDs have a viewer included - if you make albums, groups, add key words
etc. the person you send it to can view the CD using those options -
they can browse thumbnails - view slideshows . . .

One of my favority apps.
