Hi all,
Apologies if this has already been asked. I trawled
through some previous threads but could find nothing.
Yesterday I had to re-install Windows XP Pro on my laptop
to fix a problem (drastic but effective and the last
resort). The original problem is fixed but now there is a
new, very minor thing happening. The AutoRun feature that
usually occurs whenever you put a CD in the drive does
not work. Whenever a CD is inserted, the drive whirs away
and flashes its lights a bit, but that's it.
I guessed this was a simple setting somewhere but cannot
find it. The CD-DVD/RW drive is shown in device manager
as being fine and it does read CDs without any problems
(except it doesn't appear to show the title of the CD
when looking in but the auturun doesn't work.
The AutoPlay setting in My Computer has always been set
to "Prompt me..." whenever any time of CV/DVD is entered
into the drive.
Many thanks
