Autopreview won't stay off

I have Outlook version 2002 and I used to want the auto preview to turn off.
When I turn it off it disappears but when I get out of the inbox and go to
another folder, auto preview is back on when I go back into my inbox.
What's the deal?

Under View, there are two settings.

One is 'AutoPreview'. Most likely, you are hitting that. It will temporarily change it back but it won't stick.

You should actually go to View, Current View...

Inside there, if you have 'Messages with AutoPreview' checked, change it to 'Messages' instead.

Now, why are there two places right next to each other to do the same thing in slightly different ways? And why does one only override the other temporarily?

We may never know.

But whomever designed the settings for Outlook XP needs to be drug out into the street and shot. Settings are strewn throughout several menus nonsensically, or buried, or simply not present.

Don't get me wrong, I love outlook, but someone does need a strong beating at MS.

1) Not knowing what the problem is because the original wasn't included, I
can only add that changes to views used with IMAP folders do not stick.

2) Most computer programs offer 50 ways to do something and it's a bit late
to drag anyone out into the street as Outlook 2002 is no longer officially
supported.
