Hi
I used to have autonumber in the form which gives the
current record no which i comfortably used to mention in
the the document from where data is extracted for future
reference.

Now I linked the table to sql server, unless i add the
record and go back I am unable to see the number.
Everytime I can ask user tos ee like that as he feeds many
records a day.

To solve the problem I used another form whre max number
of feild to display which means the last record. This form
is made to pop up on pressing add record.

Is there any way to display the autonumber before the
record is inserted like in access

Thanks in advance

I didn't understand your exact question, but I had a similar problem
where auto numbers in my forms where not working in my ADP project
like they had in my .mdb application. I found the solution was
setting the form;s "Unique Table" to property the forms underlying
table.

Hope this helps,

Jason

That is what exactly my problem . But I linked the table
and not using adps. We dont have unique table property in
mdbs, though bound to linked tables, is not it?

Any help?

I had the same problem, but i put the "save record" command on the "on exit"
event of the autonumber field and that way i could see the number. It does
save the record into access but that was fine with me. my end-users are use
to seeing the number generated before they leave the record and this made
everyone happy.
