when ever you are not doing anything and the system is
just sitting there ,it will reboot by itself, like it has
a mind of its own . I don't know why it is doing
it . I looked for the system settings for Aytomatically
reboot but the box is unchecked. When I check the system
log I get the following error; The computer has rebooted
from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x00000044
(0x818c6008, 0x00000cca, 0x00000000, 0x00000000).
Microsoft Windows 2000 [v15.2195]. A dump was saved in:
C:\WINNT\MEMORY.DOC. PLEASE HELP!!

Hi Lourdes,

I reviewed the information that you provided and there are several
approaches to this issue. One is to download the debugger and review the
dump file to determine what is causing the stop to occur. I do want to
warn you that learning to debug a dump file is pretty high level stuff.
Here's the information on debugging:

http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/ddk/debugging/default.mspx

I also found that this particular stop error appears to be covered in this
article:
294876.KB.EN-US
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;EN-US;294876

This article may lead you to the driver that is causing the problem. Also
depending on the operating system that you are using, I found several items
where updating to the latest Service Pack appeared to fix folks issues.

Lastly if you would like someone to review the dump file you can all
Microsoft support at 1-800-936-4900 and open a case with us.

I hope this helps out.
Thanks,

Well, a search on 0x00000044 on http://support.microsoft.com
brings up only two variants of the first parameter. Try searching
with the name of the bug check.
Some possible corrective actions include but is not limited to
chkdsk c: /f + reboot, driver updates and SP reinstallation or update.
