Automating scanning process

Hello.

I have to scan ~40 images with my scanner (AOC F-610).

The scanner has no "automatic feeder", but I can manually change the
images on the scanner. (this is not the problem as the operation takes
about 40 seconds/image)

The main problem is that I have to click 'Scan' in the scanner
application, then save it in the image editor. This is what takes more
time.

So:

- Is there a program that automates this procedure, with me just
changing the images? It would be like:

SCAN IMAGE
|
SAVE
|
I CHANGE THE IMAGE
|
SCAN IMAGE
(loop until all the images are done)

I use batch scanning in Thumbs+, but they have no freeware version.
Irfanview is free and has batch scanning but I have no personal
experience with it.
