Good Morning-

I have a document that uses the automatic bullet numbering. Wheneve
I revise the document, I need to capture that in a revision section a
the bottom (think ISO documents).

Normally, whenver I make a change, I type the line number that I mad
the change to in the revision section. So, my revision entries migh
read somethign like: Changed reporting requirements from monthly t
weekly on 4.2.1.14.

The problem is, is that when I updated the document further (addin
and/or subtracting lines) 4.2.1.14 might not reference the same topi
any more. Is there a way that I can put in some sort of tag in th
revision section that would automatically reference a specific line o
paragraph in the body of the document? That way, when I updated th
document, the revision section would update itself appropriately.

Thankx,

C

Hi CT

Yes, you can do what you need.

In your revision notes, create a cross-reference to the paragraph number. To
do that, use Insert > Reference > Cross Reference. In the Reference Type
box, choose Heading. In the Insert Reference To box, choose "Heading
number". In the For which heading box, choose your heading.

Note that this is a field, and it won't update automatically like the
paragraph numbers. Once you've created the field, you can click on it and
use F9 to update it, or ctrl-a F9 to update all fields in the document.

Hope this helps.
