Automatically tranisition with animations, slides

I have a presentation with many animations and many slides. I want PowerPoint to pause for, say, 5 seconds between animations and between slides and then go ahead by itself. It shouldn't wait for an input from the keyboard or from the mouse (or from anywhere at all -- it should be automatic). Am I asking for too much? I've searched a lot for how to solve this problem, but haven't been able to find any solution. I am ok even if there is no pausel; I just want it to be automatic

Thanks

Stephie,

It's possible. It's quite easy really. These instructions are for ppt97 and ppt2000.

(1) For each "slide" to advance after 5 seconds do this...

Slideshow menu > slide transition > Advance- automatically after 5 seconds > Apply to all

I find it's nice to leave the "on mouse click" ticked...so you still have the option of advancing with the mouse or
keyboard to the next slide.

(2) if you individual objects/text on each slide are awaiting a keypress/mouse click then...
Right click each object > custom animation > Timing > Start Animation > animate > automatically after x seconds > OK

Probably best to enter 0 seconds for this bit

Thanks for (1); I am now ok with automatically transitioning slides. But the problem with (2) is that I'll have to do it for every single animation! I tried doing CTRL-A and selecting all objects and then choosing Custom Animation..., but it still seems to work only for the object on which the focus rests

Considering that each of my presentations has hundreds of animations, this is a little too time-consuming

Is there any other way to automatically transition animations, TAJ

Thanks

Stephanie,
If you are running PPT 2002 or later, you can click on an animation in the
animation pane, then do a CTRL-A to select all the animations on that slide.
Once you have them all selected, do the right click > custom animation >
Timing > Start Animation > animate > automatically after x seconds > OK
This will apply the timing change to every animation that is selected. This
will cut down some of the work...
