Automatically Dialing for IE (on a WIn2k box)

I have a laptop here that wants to try and use an internal
modem when ever IE is accessed.

I can use netscape on the LAN here alright, but when I want
to run Windows Update, I am S.O.L.

What has this user done? And how can I undo it so that
when she needs to use a modem, she does it manually, and
the system does not ASSUME she will be dialing up for an IE
connection?

Thanks!
Scott

In IE (I am using 6.0) Bring up the Tools, Internet
Options, Connections, and select Dial whenever a network
connection is not present - or if you choose - Never dial
a connection.

You can define your dial-up connection settings and
default account from this menu as well.
