in calendar view, under Actions, have option of "New Appointment with
Contact" which allows you to automatically select a Contact as an
appointment, and simply puts their name as the subject of the appointment,
but allows you to further add details to the appointment. This is especially
useful in all healthcare offices when you just want put a person's name in as
an appointment. doctors, dentists, massage, physical therapists, personal
trainers. Even better if you can just add a name to the appointment time,
and select from a customized list of procedures or customized list of actions
for that appointment, such as "exam", "follow-up", "Cleaning", "blood draw",
"vaccination", etc.

a bit of a workaround but still quite quick is to:

start from the Contact you want to set an appointment with, then Actions |
new appointment with Contact. The appointment for that starts up has the
Contact in the bottom left corner, highlight and drag it to the Subject
field. Then use the Categories for the types of Appointments you want
(Blood etc).
